Health and Safety: More Than a Priority

The health and safety culture is applied with respect and rigor to ensure and maintain a totally safe environment for everyone.

Canam’s commitment to providing employees with a “safe, clean and orderly work environment” is one of its corporate values. We are constantly striving to maintain a health and safety culture throughout the organization in order to meet our industry’s high standards and report a zero-incident record.

Through its occupational health and safety policy, Canam Group seeks for every employee to consider health and safety as part of its organizational culture, work safely and believe that every incident is preventable. The implementation of seven key health and safety principles in our plants demonstrates our commitment. These principles pertain to the following aspects:

  • Lock-out tag-out
  • Lifting operations
  • Vehicles and mobile equipment
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Incident and imminent danger reporting
  • Machine safety
  • Working at heights

Canam is supported in its ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of its employees by a management system and the sharing of expertise between its various plants. This enables the company to make regular improvements. Canam’s senior management team, which is ultimately responsible for the health and safety of employees, is committed to providing strong and visible leadership to provide the resources needed to develop, implement and maintain the system. Their commitment is key to fostering an organizational health and safety culture. Participation and involvement at all levels of the organization are essential to achieving objectives and continuously improving.
